Women Champions for Change (“WCC”) Privacy Statement

WCC respects your concerns about privacy. This Privacy Statement (the “Statement”) applies to personal data we collect relating to the registration process to join the WCC community and receive updates about it’s activity.  (the “Community”). This privacy notice will help you to understand what personal data we collect about you, how we use this personal data, and what rights you have regarding your personal data.      

It is important that you read this Statement and any other privacy notice that is provided to you on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing your personal data, so that you are aware of how and why we are using it. By accepting this Privacy Statement, you provide your general consent for the processing of your personal data as described herein. For specific processing activities, such as the use of photographs and videos, your explicit consent will be requested through the future registration forms. This notice does not form part of any contract.     

Who We Are

WCC is a new initiative connecting women leaders from across the Middle East and North Africa who are driving meaningful social change in their communities. WCC is holding an event on July 17 (“The Event”), in partnership and organized by Peres Center for Peace and Innovation (RA), (“Peres“), a non-profit entity. The data controllers of the database and of the information collected about you are WCC and Peres (jointly and severally, the “Data Controllers”). Contact details of the Data Controllers are set out below.      

 

Personal Data We Collect

We collect personal data about you that you choose to provide us when registering and signing up for the Event, including, but not limited to:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
  • Professional Information: Institutional or organizational affiliation, and job title.
  • Media Consent (with your explicit consent during registration and by accepting the Event Terms): Photographs, audio recordings, or videos captured during the Event, which may be livestreamed or published on our website, social media platforms, or promotional materials.

In addition, to the extent that you provide us with personal information relating to third parties, you undertake to inform those third parties of the provisions of this notice.

We may also collect data automatically via cookies or similar technologies on our website (e.g., IP addresses, browser type) to enhance your registration experience.

Cookies are installed on your systems and software when you use the internet, for purposes including, among others, profiling, monitoring and tracking your activity, identifying usage patterns, analyzing your preferences, enabling the display of advertisements tailored to your preferences, and making our website more suited to your experience, needs, and unique characteristics. Cookies may, at times, allow the website operator to attribute information relating to your use of the website to you specifically, whether identified or unidentified, and to information relating to you.

Cookies are text files (or lines of code) that are created on your device, subject to your device settings, and which collect information such as the duration of time you spend on a specific page/screen of the website, the manner in which you navigate the website, actions you perform on the website, identification of your IP address, location, login times, and more.

However, in such case, certain services, in whole or in part, may not function properly. Any such changes in settings are your sole responsibility. Modern browsers include the option to refuse the acceptance of cookies. Purpose and lawful basis for Data Processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To manage your registration and participation in the Event and in the Community, including sending confirmations and providing passes.
  • To organize and deliver the Event, including scheduling sessions and accommodating special requests.      
  • To communicate with you about Event updates, Event changes, or           marketing materials and updates and related opportunities around the Community, all in accordance with applicable law.
  • To publish photos/videos for promotional or archival purposes.
  • To perform research and analytics
  • To comply with legal obligations, such as tax or financial reporting requirements, and enforce legal rights.

 

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on:

  • Contract: To fulfill our obligations to facilitate the Event and provide you with an acceptable service.
  • Consent: Where required, we rely on your freely given, specific, and informed consent. This is obtained through your acceptance of this Privacy Statement and via clear options presented in the registration form and Event Terms for activities like the use of your image in event materials and the collection of your preferences. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at hello@wcc-global.org. Please note that you are not legally required to provide us with your personal information. However, you agree that without providing the information, though this may affect your ability to participate.      
  • Legitimate Interests: For purposes such as improving the Event or ensuring security, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws (e.g., tax or data protection regulations) and enforcing legal rights.     

 Data Sharing and Disclosure

  • Co-Organizers: Co-organizers and external service providers assisting with Event management (e.g., web services, venue staff, etc.)
  • Sponsors/Partners: Strategic Partners who support the work of the community
  • Public Platforms: Photos/videos may be shared on our website, social media, or other platforms for promotional purposes.
  • Legal Authorities: If required by law or to protect our rights.

You agree that we will be entitled, at our discretion, to transfer the personal information outside the borders of Israel, even if the law of the country to which the personal information is transferred and/or stored guarantees a different level of protection than the level of protection for information set forth in Israeli law.

We do not sell or share your personal data or disclose it beyond what is necessary for the Event as is described in the Statement.

How Long We Keep Information

Your personal data will be stored only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined above or to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. For example, payment data may be retained for tax purposes, while contact information may be kept for future Event communications if you agreed to receive marketing and other similar material.

 Your Rights

If you are in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, you have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Request data portability.
  • Withdraw consent (where applicable), though this may affect your ability to participate.

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, or Virginia, you may have the following rights under state privacy laws regarding personal data we collect for the Event:

  • Disclosure: Request details about personal data we collect or share, such as your name, email, or payment information, and who we share it with (e.g., payment processors).
  • Deletion or Correction: Request deletion of your personal data or correction of inaccurate data, subject to exceptions (e.g., legal requirements).
  • Data Portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a usable, portable format to transfer to another entity.
  • Appeal: Appeal our refusal to act on a request, with a response provided within 45 days.

If you are in Israel ,you have rights to review the information about you stored in the Data Controllers’ s database. If you find that the information is incorrect, incomplete, unclear, or outdated, you may contact the Data Controllers to request that the information be corrected or deleted.

Security     
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or damage.

 

Non-discrimination
We do not retaliate or discriminate against individuals for exercising privacy rights.
